Good Advice Starts With Proper Understanding

Our aim is simple: to deliver safe, reliable and well-finished gas and heating systems that work exactly as they should and leave customers confident in the work that has been done.

At Direct Gas & Heating, we believe people deserve clear advice, honest assessments, and heating systems that are properly understood — not rushed guesses or unnecessary work.

Over the years, we have seen that many heating and plumbing problems are not simply caused by a single faulty part. Often, they are connected to the wider condition of the system, how it has been installed, maintained, adjusted or used over time.

That is why our approach starts with careful assessment.

Before recommending repairs or replacements, we take the time to understand what is actually happening within the system, what the property needs, and what solution makes the most practical and long-term sense for the customer.

Sometimes the answer is straightforward. Sometimes it requires deeper fault finding, testing and experience to identify the real cause of the problem. Either way, we believe customers should be given clear explanations, realistic options, and enough understanding to make informed decisions about their property.

We also believe good work should feel organised, considered and properly finished — from the first inspection through to the final handover.

Whether carrying out a gas safety inspection, servicing a boiler, diagnosing faults or planning a larger installation, the aim remains the same:

To help customers create safe, reliable and properly functioning homes through careful assessment, practical experience and honest advice.

Gas Safe registered engineer Dougie Tremayne working on a commercial Viessmann heating system

Direct Gas & Heating is led by Gas Safe registered engineer Dougie Tremayne, who has worked in the plumbing and heating industry since the age of 17.

With more than 40 years of hands-on experience, Dougie has worked across domestic, commercial and specialist heating environments — from everyday household systems through to larger-scale plant room installations and specialist LPG systems.

Alongside practical experience, he has always taken a strong interest in understanding the technical principles behind gas and heating systems. Over the years, this has involved studying the terminology, system design concepts and operational theory behind how heating systems function and interact.

That deeper conceptual understanding supports a careful and methodical approach to fault finding, diagnosis and system assessment — helping customers receive clearer explanations, more accurate recommendations and dependable workmanship.

Today, Direct Gas & Heating continues to focus on doing things properly: working safely, communicating clearly and delivering heating solutions that are reliable, practical and built to last.

As Direct Gas & Heating continues to grow, the aim is to build a trusted local company known for careful assessment, reliable workmanship and clear practical advice.

Alongside domestic gas and heating work, the business also has experience working within commercial and specialist heating environments — including larger-scale plant room systems and specialist LPG installations.

This broader systems experience helps support the company’s practical and methodical approach across all areas of work, from everyday household heating systems through to more complex projects.
